Gender and Protection Advisor
Based: in Juba, South Sudan with frequent travel to other field locations
Start date: ASAP
Contract length: 1 year, with possibility to extend be dependent on future funding
Tearfund is a Christian relief and development agency working in more than 50 countries. Within our South Sudan country programme, Tearfund is launching a comprehensive Gender and Protection strategy targeting vulnerable populations. The strategy will include multi-sectoral initiatives in collaboration with NGO and inter-government organisations and agencies providing related services.
We are looking to recruit a Gender and Protection Advisor in South Sudan.
Under the overall direction of the Tearfund Country Director and Tearfund’s technical Sexual Violence (SV) Team (based in the UK), the Gender and Protection Advisor will represent Tearfund in South Sudan.
They will provide:
- Technical support to our operational programme and country office
- Operational and coordination leadership for Tearfund’s programming including staff/partner training and sensitisation, liaison and coordination with organisations working in the South Sudanese setting setting
- Overall strategy/program development, monitoring and evaluation
Tearfund works in direct implementation and in partnership with local NGOs and faith-based groups. The Gender and Protection Advisor will lead support to both Tearfund’s humanitarian programmes and partner’s initiatives.
The successful candidate must be passionate about serving those in need and must have substantial experience of working cross-culturally. Proven experience working in prevention and response to Sexual and gender-based violence is essential. Does this describe you? If so, we’d love to hear from you.
