Country Grants and Finance Manager

Job Description

South Sudan Jobs  southsudanjobs.com

The Organisation

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls.

We believe in the power and potential of every child. But this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And it’s girls who are most affected.

Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children.

We support children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood. And we enable children to prepare for – and respond to – crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge.

We have been building powerful partnerships for children for over 80 years and are now active in more than 70 countries.

The Opportunity

In this role you will lead the Country Programme on all issues to do with budgeting, cost recovery, cash flow management, financial risks and strategic management of grants. You will be responsible for providing timely and reliable financial information and analysis that leads to effective decision making and also to ensure full compliance with Plan’s and official South Sudan financial procedures.

You will also act as the focal point person for the SAP business system by overseeing the strategic planning process for Plan South Sudan. This will involve ensuring that the monthly reports are produced in timely manner, analysed and shared with each budget holder. You will also maintain stewardship to safeguard the country programme funds from any financial risks ranging from direct implementation to exchange control issues, all whilst ensuring that the programme is delivered in an effective manner.

The Individual

We are looking to employ an organised individual with a minimum of 5 years’ experience of financial management and accounting in a non-governmental organisation (NGO). You will have a professional financial/accounting qualification (CPA or equivalent) and knowledge of the international financial reporting standards. You will understand multi and bilateral donor policies and procedures. Having experience in operations management within and international NGO is an advantage.

To be successful in this role you will have effective management skills and will be able to lead teams across several sites and operate in a multi-cultural and matrix management structure. You will be proficient in Microsoft Office packages and with Plan’s general ledger, grants tracking and SAP systems.
